thoughts from a drama queen in an iso box: day two
hello world.
so it is day two and i feel slightly more comfortable living
within the confines of my bedroom and bathroom. physically i am feeling okay,
none of the hardcore lethargy or sore throat bits have said hello (yet) and the
‘spicy flu’ as one of my lovely co-workers calls it still feels like a standard
cold/sinus infection.
mentally i think i felt better about things today. i have quickly
settled into a good food routine so i still get my three cups of coffee a day (not
even corona can stop caffeine running through my blood!) but don’t have to step
foot in (and thus contaminate) a communal kitchen space. i do little bits and pieces
in the morning, then settle into the bigger project/goal in the afternoon with
the chosen binge watch tv season.
today was thursday july seventh and whilst in iso, i
did/thought the following:
- washed my hair! whatever form of self-care i can get my hands on right now, i am going to do it and it felt so good to get the grease out of my semi purple and pink hair.
- binge watched the first season of elite on netflix. i would describe this show as gossip girl in spanish with the ability to go 10% more graphic in the mature areas, and for a murder/mystery type show it is surprisingly easy to watch. there is certainly enough tension in the plot to keep viewers guessing, and whilst the ‘teen drama’ of it all can feel a little first world problems at times it does have memorable moments and characters. with eight episodes a season, it doesn’t require that much of a solid time commitment – but there are four more seasons to keep the party going! not sure if i will keep going this week as i want to try some other stuff but i am intrigued to revisit in the future.
- sewed squares together for my third knitted patchwork blanket born from the pandemic. the two tutorials in an early lockdown taught me one knitting stitch and how to sew squares together, and to this moment that is still all i am able to do without creating tangle city with metal needles. anyone in need of a colourful and simple cozy blanket for august? i promise i will disinfect it first….
feeling optimistic, so that is enough waffle for now. will update again
tomorrow night.
love and the disappointment of an average red rooster lunch,
emily xx
