Tuesday Thoughts - 5 Things To Help Momentarily Spice Up Your Existence 😁
Hey Internet,
I hope you are doing well wherever you are in the world
today! 🌏
So, I feel like I need to apologize for being a little weird
recently. My last post on here was a tad out there and didn’t even really make
sense to me at some points. I completely understand if it gave you a bit of a
headache after reading it.
But thinking about things since I last posted and over the
past week has made me realise that nothing I’m doing at the moment is making a
lot of sense to me. I’m lacking everything from focus and purpose to basic
skills like time management and doing anything that isn’t wasting my time
watching YouTube videos 🙈
Translation: I’m in a MAJOR rut 😧
I’m at that point in my university semester where I have
twenty million things on the go and I’m just wading through the work from week
to week, trying not to forget to do anything. I feel awful all the time and all
I want to do is hide from the world underneath the warm embrace of my
bedsheets. Forever.
But in between thinking about myself and how I’m not being a
functioning adult, I thought a lot about other people around me. My parents, my
brother soldiering through Year 12, my friends who are also trying to get
through the murky, miserable middle of a university semester… and I realised
something.
Everyone else seems to be a bit of a rut too! (No offense….)
I feel like everything going on in the world is just getting
to people and we’re all channeling our inner Eeyore. Oh me, oh my – am I
right? 😉
So, because I need an excuse to try and think positively
right now, I thought I would do my part to try and get myself/anyone else feeling
the same way as me out of our funk (momentarily…) 💛
Here are 5 little tasks that you can use to spice up your
life – even if it’s only temporary. Here we go….
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Crazy Nails!
Everyone knows that a good
pedicure/manicure will always make you feel all nice and pampered. But take it
to the next level and get a funky colour that you wouldn’t usually try. I
guarantee they’ll be a cute pop of fun on your fingers and/or toes to have a
peek at as you go through your day to day.
HOW I’M GOING TO DO THIS: I pinky promise to get some crazy fluoro
green nails happening in the next couple of weeks!
2. Fancy Food!
Treat yourself to a nice little
culinary treat, because nothing says excitement and general happiness like FOOD!
Whether it is trying a brand-new restaurant for the first time with friends or
simply grabbing a sundae from McDonalds on the way home from work, having a
spontaneous eating experience from time to time keeps things interesting for
sure.
HOW I’M GOING TO DO THIS: I think that Chinese food is on the cards
for lunch this Thursday. Something to look forward to :)
3. Whimsical Purchases!
One crazy and potentially
pointless monetary splurge is also super exciting from time to time. It doesn’t
have to be the Apple store people, but you deserve a little trinket as a present
for being your awesome self. The sillier the better I say, that way it is
guaranteed to make you laugh every time you see it. Up the level of whimsy by picking
a shop at random, or bring a friend and pick something for each other! Spread
the love <3
HOW I’M GOING TO DO THIS: Watch out local $2 shop, I’m coming for
you this weekend!
4. Movie Magic!
A great switch off for a lot of
people is to chuck on a really funny film when they want some brain chill time.
Plan a two-hour break from the craziness of daily life and let yourself laugh in
front of the TV without it feeling like procrastination. Whether it is one that
you’ve seen 1000 times or a brand new one that you have been meaning to road
test for ages, I guarantee it will make you feel great.
HOW I’M GOING TO DO THIS: Sorry guys, I’ve already done this one :o
I saw The Hitman’s Bodyguard (starring Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson)
last week and it was freaking hilarious. I haven’t got time at the moment to
jot down a proper review for y’all but 10/10 would recommend because it is damn
good :)
5. Take A Walk!
That’s right – get off the couch, loose
the WiFi and get out into the wilderness. If you already do this regularly,
good for you, but it is never too late to start incorporating a stroll or two
into your daily routine. I find that these really help when I am super stressed
or anxious. They give me the chance to stretch my legs and process my thoughts
in some fresh air. It doesn’t have to be a long walk either – a little bit goes
a long way :)
HOW I’M GOING TO DO THIS: Even though Mother Nature hasn’t got the
memo about it being spring in Melbourne because it’s still super cold, I
promise I’ll go on a walk three times this week! So much exercise, yay keeping
active!

A lot of these things are ridiculously simple. A lot of
things you’ve probably already done one hundred times before. If so, consider
this a friendly Internet reminder to take the time to try new things and keep
life exciting in amongst the monotony of everyday existence. They might not get
you out of your funk completely, but they are definitely a step in the right
direction :)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So there we go, a set of 5
pick-me-ups to help anyone feeling the blues to spice up their life a bit. I’m
sure you have your own ones, so share them either down in the comments or with
a friend who you think could use a little spark of excitement right now 💕
