Sunday Songs of the Week!

Hello there Internet!

First things first, I hope you didn't find my serious and emotional post last week too intense. It was so helpful for me emotionally to write all that out and I appreciate you if you chose to read it 💓

Well, well well. What a crazy and draining time it has been in my world this week. Long story short, I completed an exam, got a cold and a stomach bug on the same day, then got rid of the stomach bug but unfortunately kept the cold 😑😑😑

I have another exam coming up in the next couple of days so it has been all hands and brains on deck to try and get myself together for that. This is half the reason why this week's post is SO late. I apologise.

I have been sick so writing anything has been a challenge. Throw in exams taking the priority and a nasty case of blog writing block and I thought the blog would have to take a leave of absence this week. But it is Sunday afternoon and I have found some time to write a little something for y'all!

As someone who listens to music pretty much all the time, I am always picking up new tracks to add to my Spotify playlists. Whether they are old classics or new releases, it's always fun to expand your musical horizons.

So without further ado, here is a quick rundown of some of my favourite songs that have been on repeat this week....

Lady Gaga - The Cure

I always love a little bit of Lady Gaga in my playlist, and her song 'The Cure' is super fun and upbeat. With lyrics that are all about spreading love and curing people of their troubles, I am always left in a lovely, happy mood whenever it comes on. It’s electro pop at its best, and the optimistic vibes are perfect if you are looking for an injection of musical positivity into your day. Something to have a smile and a dance to if you ask me.

Jonas Blue ft. William Singe - Mama

I love, love, LOVE this song! With previous smash hits like ‘By Your Side’ and ‘Perfect Strangers’, British DJ Jonas Blue knows how to make listeners get up and dance; and 'Mama' is no different. Teaming up with the soulful and smooth vocals of Aussie William Singe, this song has massive island vibes and celebrates being young, carefree and living life to the fullest. It’s catchy in the best way possible and trust me: you WILL be hitting that repeat button.

Martin Jensen - Solo Dance

Danish producer Martin Jensen has hit a home run with this fierce and energetic EDM track. It’s my absolute favourite song right now (despite the fact it was released in November 2016….)! With vocals from a phenomenal anonymous female singer, it instantly makes you feel so alive and ready to dance like there is no tomorrow. Add in the fact that its lyrical themes of individuality and being happy on your own are just sensational, and I am completely in love. Enough said.

FAVOURITE LYRIC: “I came to party on my own, don't need nobody in my zone, I get down to the beat, I lose control”

Machine Gun Kelly ft. Hailee Steinfeld - At My Best

Another song that champions self-improvement and empowerment, rapper Machine Gun Kelly teams up with the gorgeous Hailee Steinfeld for an awesome, uplifting hip-hop track. Its clever lyrical themes encourage listeners to fight through the doubt and internal struggles to chase their dreams and find their place in the world. As someone who has never really felt like the cool kid, this song speaks to me and its catchy beat is just icing on the cake.

FAVOURITE LYRIC: “I shout, I swear, I get angry, I get scared, I fall, I break, I mess up, I make mistakes, but if you can't take me at my worst, you don't deserve me at my best”
